There are a number of orthopedic conferences and meetings held throughout the year. We put together this list to help you stay up to date. You’ll find clinical meetings, as well as meetings for executives and administrators. Can’t find the information you’re looking for? Check back–we’ll be updating as new information is available.
**Please note that as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect our country, many events are being canceled, postponed, or moved to a virtual format. Many virtual events are being made available for an extended amount of time. We have updated our event listings to reflect new plans as available, but please check with the event coordinators for latest information.

American Orthopaedic Association (AOA) Annual Meeting
June 10 – September 15, 2020
This meeting has been moved to a virtual format, with courses spread out from June 10 – September 15th, 2020.
The annual AOA meeting provides a chance for orthopaedic professionals to connect with colleagues and expand leadership knowledge. CME opportunities are also available. Topics range from academic to leadership and management-focused subjects.
American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) Annual Meeting
Available through September 30, 2020
This year, the meeting content will be available in a virtual format through September 30, 2020. The program is aimed toward orthopaedic surgeons, physicians, and other healthcare professionals in sports medicine. There are a number of instructional courses and workshops for attendees to earn CME credits.
Southern Orthopaedic Association Annual Meeting
July 23, 2020 – July 22, 2021
Virtual meeting content will be available for a full year. The Southern Orthopaedic Association is open to orthopaedic surgeons practicing in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, as well as Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia. The Annual Meeting gives attendees an opportunity to earn CME credits on a number of topics in orthopaedics.
Western Orthopaedic Association Annual Meeting
Beginning August 31, 2020
The Western Orthopaedic Association is open to orthopaedic surgeons practicing in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. Attendees can earn CME credits on a number of topics, and there are usually social events planned for spouses and children.
American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS) Annual Meeting
September 10-12, 2020
The AOFAS is holding its 2020 annual meeting online. Attendees can earn CME credits on a number of topics related to foot and ankle care. The AOFAS at Home meeting will include over 75 hours of live and on-demand educational content. Registration includes access to the virtual meeting platform through March 31, 2021.
American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH) Annual Meeting
September 30 – October 3, 2020
This meeting has been moved to a virtual format with on-demand sessions available beginning on September 18. Live sessions will be available October 1-3.
The ASSH is a society for hand surgeons in different areas, including orthopaedic surgeons, plastic surgeons, and general surgeons. This meeting is open to surgeons, physician assistants, residents, and fellows-in-training specializing in hand surgery.
Midwest AAOE Annual Meeting
October 1-4, 2020
St. Louis, MO
The Midwest AAOE is open to orthopaedic administrators in Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. Attendees have the opportunity to meet with vendors, network with other practice administrators, continue education in practice management, and attend a number of presentations.
North Carolina Orthopaedic Association Annual Meeting
October 2-4, 2020
The 2020 meeting will take place at the Omni Grove Park Inn. This meeting is open to orthopaedic surgeons, physician assistants, retired members, residents, and fellows-in-training in North Carolina. The goal of the meeting is to provide an opportunity to continue medical education and network.
American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics (AOAO) Annual Meeting
October 24-25, 2020
Events at the AOAO Annual Meeting typically include lectures, panels, case discussions, and question/answer sessions. Attendees include orthopedic surgeons, orthopedic residents, allied health, and physicians interested in the practice of orthopedics. The theme for this year’s meeting is “Seeing the Clear Way to Avoid Complications.”
American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS) Annual Meeting
November 5-8, 2020
The AAHKS is a society for hip and knee surgeons, surgeons in training, and other hip and knee care professionals. The annual meeting is open to surgeons, as well as residents, non-physician team members, and surgeons administrators. Attendees have the opportunity to meet with vendors and see presentations on topics ranging from implant design, surgical techniques, outcomes, and complications of hip and knee surgery. CME credits are also available.
Orthopaedic Summit 2020: Evolving Techniques (OSET)
December 8-12, 2020
Las Vegas, NV
Orthopaedic Summit is the premier gathering of orthopaedic professionals across the globe. Attendees include orthopaedic surgeons in a variety of specialties, as well as physician assistants, nurse practitioners, athletic trainers, and physical and occupational therapists. 2020 marks the 10th anniversary of this event. This event offers CME credits and will feature cadaveric and live surgical demonstrations, debates, and group discussions on the latest orthopaedic techniques.
Clinical Orthopaedic Society Annual Meeting

The Clinical Orthopaedic Society Annual Meeting is aimed at orthopaedic surgeons and residents, sports medicine physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, and physical and occupational therapists. Attendees can earn CME credits on topics related to orthopaedic surgery and care and meet with vendors and service providers.
Georgia Orthopaedic Society Annual Meeting
New Dates Unavailable
Orthopaedic surgeons in Georgia can meet up with other colleagues in the state. Attendees can earn CME credits, and there are also social activities for attendees and their family members. Attendees can also visit vendor exhibits to learn more about products and services that can help their practices.
Pennsylvania Orthopaedic Society Fall Meeting
New Dates Unavailable
This meeting was designed for orthopaedic surgeons, residents, fellows, and medical students planning to specialize in orthopaedic surgery. Attendees can see presentations and exhibits, and earn CME credits.
The Bones Society of Florida (BSOF) Annual Conference
February 11-13, 2021
Lake Buena Vista, FL
The BSOF is a society for orthopaedic practice administrators in Florida that works alongside the American Association of Orthopaedic Executives and the Florida Orthopaedic Society. The 2020 event has been cancelled and moved to 2021.
Texas Orthopaedic Association (TOA) Annual Conference
February 7-8, 2020
San Antonio, TX
TOA is an organization dedicated to ensuring the musculoskeletal health of patients in Texas. Their annual meeting is open to orthopaedic surgeons, allied health providers, residents, and fellows practicing in Texas. Attendees will have the opportunity to see presentations, earn CME credits, network, and meet with vendors.
Interdisciplinary Conference on Orthopedic Value Based Care
February 28 – March 1, 2020
Newport Beach, CA
This conference provides a unique experience for attendees with interdisciplinary speakers, rapid-fire breakout sessions, and hands-on bootcamps. This program was developed to allow for a deeper, more comprehensive focus on orthopedic value-based care. It is based on a three-pronged approach (Financial, Operational and Clinical) to cover the needs of your entire team. Attendees include healthcare executives, physicians, nurses, physical therapists and patients.
AAOS Annual Meeting
March 20-28, 2020
This event was supposed to take place in March, but has since been canceled. However, members can purchase a virtual version of the meeting on-demand to earn CME credits.
At the AAOS Annual Meeting, orthopedic surgeons from all over the country to network, see exhibits, share research, and attend educational presentations. This meeting is open to all AAOS members, and is one of the biggest conferences of the year for orthopedic surgeons.
Mid-America Orthopaedic Association 2020 Annual Meeting
This event was going to be held from April 22-26, 2020, but has been cancelled due to COVID-19. Registration costs will be refunded.
The Mid-America Orthopaedic Association (MAOA) is open to orthopaedic surgeons practicing in Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, and Wisconsin. Attendees can earn CME credits on a number of topics.
American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM) Annual Meeting
This event was to be held from April 24-29, 2020, but has since been canceled. Registration fees can be transferred to the 2021 conference, donated to the AMSSM Foundation, or refunded in full.
AMSSM is an organization for sports medicine specialists. Attendees are able to go to several presentations and workshops, some of which offer CME credits. Topics cover different aspects of sports medicine, including treatment and surgical approaches, diet and exercise, and new developments in sports medicine.
Eastern Orthopaedic Association Annual Meeting
Organizers have decided to cancel this event, and will be refunding registration fees that were already paid.
The Eastern Orthopaedic Association is open to orthopaedic surgeons practicing in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, District of Columbia, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Puerto Rico, and the United States Virgin Islands. Attendees will have an opportunity to earn CME credits and participate in various social events.
California Orthopaedic Association Annual Meeting
April 16-19, 2020
The in-person version of this conference, which was going to take place from April 16-19, 2020, has been canceled. However, the courses have been moved to online accredited courses so that registered attendees can still earn CME credits.
Attendees of this conference include orthopaedic surgeons, residents, and fellows. In addition to the available CME courses, there will also be a number of social events.
California BONES Society (C-BONES) Annual Meeting at the COA Annual Meeting
April 16-19, 2020
Like the COA Annual Meeting, the C-BONES Annual Meeting has been canceled and moved to an online format.
C-BONES is a society for practice managers, so it provides the opportunity for practice managers to attend alongside surgeons.
American Association of Orthopaedic Executives (AAOE) Annual Meeting
May 1-4, 2020
This annual conference focuses on orthopaedic practice management and the challenges that come along with it. More than 500 orthopaedic practice executives from across the country attend this event. Events include educational sessions, pre-conference sessions, and networking events.
American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine (AOASM) Annual Conference
May 1-3, 2020
Topics covered at this meeting will include concussion management, stem cell therapy, and sports injuries. In addition to the available educational credits and opportunities during the conference, pre-conference workshops are also typically available.
Virginia Orthopaedic Society Annual Meeting
May 15-17, 2020
This event evolved into a Virtual Research Symposium following the cancellation of the in-person event due to COVID-19.
Attendees of this meeting are able to attend a number of presentations and earn CME credits for some of those events. They also have the opportunity to meet with several medical device and pharmaceutical vendors.
American College of Sports Medicine Annual Meeting & World Congress
June 17, 2020
This conference has been changed to a virtual experience that will be available beginning on June 17. The content will be available for free, with a small processing fee for CEC and CME credits.
The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Annual Meeting is for sports medicine professionals from every aspect of the specialty. Topics discussed include exercise science and sports injuries. Attendees also have the opportunity to view exhibits from vendors.
Florida Orthopaedic Society (FOS) Annual Meeting
July 2, 7 & 9, 2020
The 2020 Florida Orthopaedic Society Virtual Annual Meeting is taking place over a series of evenings from July 2nd to July 9th. Each evening will provide attendees with clinical presentations from either residents, fellows, medical students, or society members. Orthopaedic surgeons attending this meeting will have the opportunity to earn CME credits.
